About the KRCL Print
We are an open (any gender combination) curling league in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, open to GLBTT* people and their allies, of all ages and curling abilities.

Our games are usually on Sunday afternoons at 1:30 with our season running from October to March or early April.

We currently have 22 teams that play in three divisions, with teams sorted by skill level.

Every year we have up to a dozen people join us who are brand new to the game. The first week of the season is always an instructional clinic for new curlers and a "funspiel" for those who already know the basics.

If you’re an individual curler and don’t have a team, we can match you up.

If you’re a skip looking to make up a new team, or round out your current team, we can help you with that, too.

We can always use more people for our spare list, either novices who want to learn the game or experienced curlers looking for an extra game.

We play at the Granite Curling Club in downtown Winnipeg. The Granite was founded in 1880.  In 1912 the present facilities were erected on Mostyn Place (now Granite Way).  It is the oldest curling club still in continuous existence in Manitoba.   The club has 9 sheets of ice, and blends modern equipment with turn of the century heritage.

Every February we host the Bison Cup Bonspiel that attracts teams from across the country.  In 2016 we hosted the Canadian Gay Curling Championships.

The social aspect of curling is very important to the success of our league. It’s not uncommon for members to have lunch in the dining room before their Sunday afternoon game.  And lots of members invite their friends or family to come watch them play. After each game players usually retreat to the lounge where they socialize, share curling experiences, discuss strategy or just enjoy friendly conversation over food or drinks. Many lasting friendships (yes, even relationships!) have had their roots in the curling lounge.

Besides a cardiovascular workout, challenging strategy and team cooperation, curlers enjoy a wonderful off-ice atmosphere of camaraderie that is unmatched in other winter team sports. Integrity, a sense of fair play and friendly competition are all hallmarks of the sport. It is also one of the few sports where men and women of all ages can compete equally.

If you are a member of Manitoba's GLBTT* community, or an ally -- WE NEED YOU!
